politics

politics are a touchy subject for all because it effects all. but when someone voices their idea as an "opinion" no one gets upset but when one person contradicts their opinion we enter the dance of politics. It is a natural occurance (politics) with the capability of exchanging ideas we can mold and change into (and with) ideas. But when you say "lets talk politics" you may have said you lit live puppies on fire. Most cases the room goes quiet and you get ignored. Why is it that politics pull such responses from us? most people won't talk politics unless its either their profession or they are with people they have known for some time. I don't say what they have in common because it is rare that one person would find another who thinks exactly as they do. Politics take place in every day life we just don't think of them as politics such as "where should we go to eat?", "clean your room or get a spanking" examples of a democracy and a tyranny. We as a people will never reach a stasis if people continue to ignore and avoid political views that are unlike their own.

Captain Crunch

I found out early this morning that the cereal Captain Crunch is going off the shelves. given that I am not full on the facts (word of mouth though they did elaborate a little on the subject) but what it came down to was the sugar content...Really? Sugar is sugar and Captain Crunch had been around for...well since 1963 (you do the math), but suddenly now it is dangerous? As are cokes (and other soda pops), certain vegetables/fruits, candies, car parts, string, etcetera. Cokes were much more dangerous back when there was a reason it was called "coke" (cocain for you clean people). Some fruits have been declared (grapes, apples) unhealthy due to the "natural" sugar. Natural, c'mon what're you gunna do? Candies yea they are nothing but sugary goodness. My point being these items have been around for years my parents ate them, my grandparents, my great-great grandparents and they often ate worse "unhealthy" foods (I have an odd family i'm not going into details). People are going to eat whatever they feel like. Like the man who ate car parts to break a record. In highschool we had a string lab all it did was attach to a drill bit and spin our teacher pointed out that the instructions simply said "do not consume" meaning someone did or tried to do so. Humans have to eat to live. And they are going to eat whatever is available which in our society is vast and delicious (ha!). Denying someone there right of choice steps on the toes of their right to expression (you wanna eat bugs go ahead, can't eat pork that's cool too). Understandably if the company shuts down for financial reasons or they put lead in each box gotcha, death bringing habits. Sugar is a NATURAL phenomenon has been around since the beginning of time to say now that it is simply unacceptable to eat so much sugar in one bite is unethical (if your religious its immoral). They are taking away these products because they have to much sugar (artificial or not) what next are they going to take sugar bags off the counter? Regulate sugar like ciggarettes. Must be 21 to obtain...like to see them outlaw apples. If you are a health nut (respect) eat organic if you'd like but don't deny me my options of being a couch potato (respect) because you don't like my life style. Don't like it, don't eat it.

RANDOM THOUGHT OF THE DAY!!!! (drum roll). Someone had posted about how sex sells and how it negatively affects images. Which really only is half touching on what I thought of today. Sex is in everything today clothing, candies, desserts, etc... Well my idea was since it (sex) sells so much and people find novelty toys and brick-a-brack funny why not have novelty/sex medicines? A smile makes the day brighter/better and who wouldn't laugh when given a cough drop shaped like a boob? (haha mental imagery is amusing) I know there is the whole thing that kids are getting ahold of some of these novelty shops but since I wouldn't like to see...okay I had some rude names made up too. But I would expect these sex medicines only in novelty shops not really intended for large scale public use but just to make someone feel better.

Schools

I'm a big fanatic when it comes to schools and education. Lately on the news they've been telling about the budget cuts and how they are effecting schools. Dallas was reported as letting some hundred(s) of teachers go due to the lack of funding. Now in Texas there are a few ways to lose funding but most funding is handed out by test, such as the TAKS. If the school lost funding because of bad scores on this test what since does it make to cut teachers when obviously the kids aren't getting the knowledge anyway? Because once the teachers are cut the students will be forced to be in larger class sizes and if one teacher can't teach 20 kids how in the hell are they suppose to be able to handle 30 or 40? It's a vicious down-ward spiral. Give a test, kids didn't do to hot, take away teachers because of funding, test comes around again, kids did worse because of less one-on-one learning, punish more teachers by firing them, test comes around again...etcetera. Letting teachers go isn't solving the drooping learning curve it's only going to reinforce it. The next thing that will be happening is school closures, causing people to move, which causes certain cities to lose funding. That one teacher made all the difference in a social structure given the chance think of what a child could do with their teachings too.

Taylor/Kanye

I'm not sure who Taylor/Kanye are singing about but thay are each talking about an individual and not really the world at large.

With Taylor she sings to a 32 somehting person telling them to keep bekieving. Taylor never refers to herself but sings of that person the entire time. Taylor refers to how the world perceives how a 32 year old should act and play a role in the world. How the individual doesn't matter as much as the public at whole. Even after saying this she wants them to believe that they still are an individual. someone unique and beautiful as much so as when they were young and people took time out to pay attention to them, "Wasn't it beautiful when you bleieved in everything? And everybody beilieved in you?...". She implies that she well always be that person who take the time to flatter and pet them.

On the flip side Kanye si telling their audience to run away.Kanye takes the time to point out options available. He also speands time pointing out his own flaws, "Never was much of a romantic. I could never take the intimacy. And I know it did damage...". He care somewhat for the person he is singing to as that he longer wants to hurt them but refuses to take the initiative. Instead he wants them to leave him, to blame him. Kanye doesn't even hint that he will change he simply wants it all to stop.

both Taylor and Kanye point out that it is the person they are singing to hurting themselves. That the world is cruel but it is the individual who is allowing it to be cruel to them not so much the other way around.

It's a bleak output on the world but is it in someway true? "It can't hurt you unless you let it." There are things that may bother one person more than another but if it weren't for human need to protect, as much as it is in our nature to harm, the world would have fallen apart long ago. We all know the world spins, scientific fact, but a person's "own littled world" spins too. It's the only way to explain why time flies when having fun or when the world stops spinning when something devastating happens. But the world "keeps spinning". No matter how dark the times the sun always comes around again. It's that hope that knowing of the sun that guides us. That gets the 32 year old out of bed to try and the beaten down to have faith in those who need it even if they don't appreciate it.

How gay...

I'm confused as of why people persecute the gays/trans./etc...One of the biggest artist of pop culture (Adam Lambert: top left) is out of the closet flamboyant gay. There are those who judge him on it, dislike and all, but who would go out and openly flog the man? Security aside. In previous centuries it was not uncommon to see a man be undistinguishable from a woman in fashion. Fops, dandies, macaroni, and so on (example right) were men dressed to the finest. Going so far as to wear makeup like women and they were reverred for the wealth/power that the care and decadence of their attire showed. I don't know if that entirely meant they were gay but I have my suspicions. Clothing is one way we define whose gay and whose not. Back in the day if you had an ear pierced (boy) there was something wrong with you. If you had your head shaved (girl) something wrong. That was in style too. Pink not for boys slacks not for girls. Clothing really doesn't define sex anymore but people still juge the gay/lesbian/tranny community. Just how is their sexuality really hurting you? People say they get offended seeing two guys/girls kissing in public well a little FYI its not much better watching two people of the opposite sex going at it either. It was a huge problem in my highschool where couples were practically dry humping in the halls but God forbid if a guy/girl gives their respective spouse a peck on the cheek.

Okay yeah not the best picture but anywho. For those of you wondering who/what it is, the picture above is a character called a Spitter from Left 4 Dead 2. She's a perfect example of someone wearing something they reeeaaally shouldn't (given there's no telling if she looked like this before "infection"). But if you're proud of your body please by all means flaunt it just remember not everyone wants to see it. Have a respect for the people around (much like with teens/young adults) I DO NOT want to see your bum.... Can't make that clear enough. I grew up on hand-me-downs and thought it was the shit when little o'me got new cloths that were meant to fit just me. Are things so bad that adult men/women have to wear their children's cloths to save money? Which means that children have no choice but to use younger kids cloths or the neglected clothing of their parents (i.e baggy pants/to small shirts). Ahhh its all coming together, but it's no excuse.

Decency

Ya know I'm all one for fashion i think its great that everyone can express themselves in different ways and in many forms with one clothing item but i don't want to know what you look like half naked. I'm not a pedophile i really don't want to see half-naked young kids. And i know their gonna say well i'm 15 and blah- blah- blah but  whats the point of it? Look at the guy on the right he is HOLDING up his pants. If you're gunna do that you might as well wear them properly. I know its a fashion statement...that started in prison. Yes it is a prison fashion that when worn that inmate will do "favors" for someone. Do you want to go to jail? Do you want to be a hooker? It's not just boys who do stupid things and then wonder why noone takes them "seriously", girls too. I saw a girl who would have still been in highschool, if she weren't still in middle, wearing the strangest fashion I'd seen in a long time...Lady GaGa would have stared. she wore two different types of socks each in neon colors, a bright red petty coat (ones like they sold this past halloween at walmart), a light (weight) black jacket, and a purple tank top underneath, it was below 40. To make it worse she was uncomfortable. She kept trying to tug down the skirt that ends at the mid-upper thigh (i know i wore one for halloween) and she kept rubbing her arms, it was freaking cold. Yes i know fitting in, got it, understand it, don't like it. People are going to mock you no matter the decision. Those boys up there and the girl i described probably thought they were hot sh*t and so did their friends and here I am making fun and complaining. It's just i don't how to explain it we don't need to you know go back to the crenoline skirts and bow ties but if your going out dress sensible to the weather. If your going somewhere where there is a lot of people don't make yourself off as a thuglet or skank. We were all that age we know what those looks were of "hey she's hot" (those aren't always from the people your age), or "OMG what is she wearing" (older people), then off course theres "thats last year's style" (your schoolmates). It doesn't matter whether you wear a uniform or the latest fashions there is always an appropriateness and etiquette outside of your own little world. Not to get down on the younger crowd my next blog will be about older people who...just need to know that they're NOT kids anymore.
